Purpose Statement:
In the role of Senior Manager of Software Engineering at Boston Scientific you will be accountable for delivering reliable, innovative, and high-quality software medical device applications for our products. Our software is used to advance Electrophysiology mapping systems and the diagnosis and treating of heart arrhythmias. In this role you will lead, develop, and mentor a high functioning, highly productive, agile, and motivated engineering organization of managers, software developers, and software quality assurance professionals. You will have the opportunity to significantly impact the software development of truly life changing patient therapies for the relief of debilitating diseases.
Responsibilities:

Provide strategic direction for software development and test initiatives, including manual and automated systems testing, aligning them with the company’s overall vision.

Partner with the product organization to develop milestone driven roadmaps for new features, and new products and service offerings.

Lead and grow a multi-site software engineering team including recruiting, hiring, mentoring, professional development, and performance coaching.

Create a high-performing team culture and entrepreneurial environment where people are highly engaged, skilled, and collaborative.

Oversee and drive the entire software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing, deployment, maintenance, and security.

Build strong customer relationships, drive customer-centric decisions and partner with customers to help shape future initiatives.

Help lead a cross functional site and build engagement within the site and team.

Effectively communicate with different levels of management, as well as business and technical employees.

Participate in cross functional franchise level leadership.

Demonstrate effective change leadership.

Demonstrate ability to succeed in fast paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Deep dive technically where needed while keeping a broad perspective.

Lead a team working with agile software development methods such as Scrum.

Responsible for organizational fluency in key standards for software.

Build strategic internal and external partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives. Proactively collaborates with stakeholders in and outside of the company.

Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by staying informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging tools in medical device software engineering, human factors, design controls, reliability testing, and AI development.

Explore novel approaches to enhance software performance, usability, and patient outcomes.

Guide strategies to address cybersecurity and privacy policy requirements.

Ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and regulatory requirements and standards (such as FDA guidelines for medical software).

Lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.

Requirements:
-
Strong background in Medical Imaging Visualization – 2D/3D
-
Exposure to CUDA, OPENCL and Graphics card programming
-
Prior experience in CT Imaging
-
Successful history of launching and maintaining products within the medical device industry

Demonstrated expertise in design, development and testing of software based medical devices.

Demonstrate a keen interest in EP, workflows, clinical features, and user experience.

Ability to lead a cross functional site and build engagement.

Ability to lead a multi-site team and collaborate with peers in different locations.
-
Experience working with requirement management, collaboration, and issue tracking tools such as Jama and Jira.

Working knowledge of hardware, firmware, and software evaluation to standards such as IEC 62304.

Significant experience working with agile software development methods such as Scrum.

Experience with cyber security and privacy policies and design requirements.

Experience with software test strategies, tools, and automation.

Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 10+ years of experience developing highly complex software for medical devices

5+ years’ experience managing technical teams in the development and testing of medical device software.
