About the role:
The Principal, DBS Science and Engineering is a versatile member of the Neuromodulation Upstream Marketing team focused on increasing the utilization and efficacy of commercial Deep Brain Stimulation systems and aiding in the development of new ones. The position primarily interfaces with the product development team, R&D, the field sales force, and DBS customers.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as an internal consultant with cross-functional product development teams to generate voice-of-the-customer market specifications based on your expert knowledge of the field
  • Performing sales engineering activities to assist the field sales force in promoting DBS products by bringing an experiential, technical, and research-focused approach to selling
  • Collaborating with clinical research teams and academic institutions on research projects and publications in the DBS space
  • Establishing relationships with key opinion leaders in the field as an ‘everything DBS’ expert
  • Developing and supporting a comprehensive launch plan and strategy for new product(s)
  • Acquiring and analyzing feedback from key opinion leaders, current and potential customers, third party market research, and internal stakeholders
  • Developing product positioning, marketing messaging, and related marketing collateral
  • Possessing an in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry in general and more specifically, the segments targeted by assigned products
  • Collecting feedback from customers throughout the product development process
  • Creating and implementing market development strategies to target key customers
  • Managing internal tools and software that support the launch and utilization of our products
  • Supporting sales force and physician educational programs and content
  • Representing and speaking for Boston Scientific DBS at society conferences and workshops, both domestically and internationally
  • Travel upwards of 40% to support sales and marketing activities of the role

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in engineering or life sciences a plus.
  • Minimum 5+ years clinical or marketing experience in the neurosurgical/neurological space.
  • Strong analytic and strategic thinking ability.
  • Experience with clinical sales, preferably in the medical device field.
  • Demonstrated ability of collecting user requirements (voice of the customer).
  • Capability to speak as an expert to a wide range of competencies in a didactic format.
  • Ability to complete assignments of an advanced degree of complexity, working under little supervision on specific tasks or projects.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Medical device experience strongly preferred; experience with Class III devices preferred.
  • Preferred experience working with a cross-functional team and the ability to ‘know your audience’.
  • Physician/Provider engagement experience preferred.
  • Previous product launch experience preferred.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
