We are searching for a Director and Business Partner, Global Corporate Communications to join Boston Scientific, Neuromodulation. This highly visible role collaborates closely with leaders across division-specific and corporate functions, including Marketing, Investor Relations, Health Care Economics and Market Access, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Clinical and other functions.
The Neuromodulation division is based in Valencia, California. We are seeking candidates in a hybrid work-mode, working in the office approximately three days per week, in one of the following locations: Arden Hills or Maple Grove, Minnesota; Marlborough, Massachusetts; Valencia, Irvine, or Santa Clara, California. The employee will have the option to work remotely the rest of the week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead overarching, global external and internal communications strategies and plans based on divisional annual operating plan objectives, while securing stakeholder alignment, program funding and functional resourcing.
- Support divisional president and franchise marketing VPs to create deliberate communications strategies that advance the commercial organization’s overarching goals and deliver impactful and timely content to respective audiences.
- Drive strategic alignment with marketing organization and oversee the development of proactive public relations programming and in support of patient education and business priorities.
- Anticipate and manage communication needs related to issues and crises that have potential reputational impact.
- Pro-actively implement data-driven communication plans, working closely with cross-functional divisional, corporate and regional colleagues.
- Provide strategic counsel and a solution-oriented and adaptable mindset while pushing back on recommendations when necessary.
- Serve as a media spokesperson for the company representing the Neuromodulation business.
- Develop talking points, statements, FAQs and preparation of executives for media and investor relations needs surrounding M&A, product milestones, issues management, etc.
- Enable new and effective methods for developing compelling and interactive employee communications around strategy, business priorities, organizational changes and culture.
- Supervise senior communications manager, with a strong focus on mentoring and professional development.
- Manage agency/third-party professionals to develop and deliver communications programming and measure impact.
- Serve as an active member of the Global Corporate Communications team, pursuing consistent, high-quality communications through collaboration and best-practice sharing.
- Partner with regional communications leads in EMEA, APAC and LATAM to drive strategic alignment and execution on key product communications initiatives.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to company values and furthering a diverse and inclusive team environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field
- 12+ years of communications experience within a corporate or agency environment
- 10+ years of issues management experience
- Experience with both external and internal communications (i.e., external: media relations, product milestone communications, issues management, PR programming for direct-to-patient and physicians; internal: engagement, executive communications and organizational change management)
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and teams regardless of reporting relationships or direct organizational authority
- Proven exceptional writer and multi-channel storyteller
- Ability to identify the “big picture” with attention to detail with all communications
- In-depth understanding of communicating with target audiences, as well as expertise in high-impact messaging to broad audiences
- Ability to distill complex information into compelling and simple terms, with an understanding of public and industry perception
- Demonstrated success at managing competing deadlines within tight timeframes and managing legal, clinical, regulatory reviews and approvals
- Ability to travel domestically in support of medical congresses and internal team meetings (appx 10%)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both a corporate and an agency environment
- High degree of emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong executive presence with the ability to thoughtfully advise top executives, comfortably providing alternative points of view and influence decision making
- Experience in a highly matrixed environment
- Healthcare communication experience

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
