About the role
As a Principal Engineer for Sustaining R&D, you will be responsible for co-leading and driving the advancement of innovative cost reduction projects intended to improve gross margin across Urology Division. This role involves working within cross-functional and global teams to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions. The successful candidate will excel in a collaborative environment, possess strong technical skills in design elements and interactions, and demonstrate a proven ability to influence projects. This position is intended for cost reduction projects needed to warrant Urology profitability to continue fueling our category leadership.

 

This role must work onsite from our Spencer, IN location.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical evaluation of project VIPs considering all aspects of Design Controls requirements.
  • Execute cost-benefit analysis using financial expertise and including risk assessments to provide recommendation to management.
  • Follow Design Change process as planning tool (known as DCA) to plan and establish activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work routine to meet established schedule.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing sites to ensure alignment and effective project execution.
  • Analysis to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity as related to design, material, or process.
  • Summarize, analyze, and define conclusions from test results.
  • Generate and implement creative solutions to design and manufacturing challenges using new technologies and innovative techniques.
  • Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and quality systems.
  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with medical device manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Expertise to provide technical leadership with product strategy – design and development.
  • Experience leading projects and ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and innovative mindset; works independently guided by company policies, guidelines and procedures.

 

Preferred qualifications:  

  • An independent critical thinker; willingness to challenge status quo
  • Comfortable working ‘in the gray’; known for innovative, out of the box thinking to identify new approaches to meeting requirements
  • Experience with medical device development for single use devices
  • Experience with Boston Scientific Design Controls & Risk Management practices.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
