The  Principal health economics specialist is responsible for the Integration of clinical and economic impact of a technology to help how demonstrate value to government bodies, private insurers and patients through two distinct work streams. The first involves acting in analysis on clinical research proposals, including ISRs (Investigator Sponsored Research), supporting protocol development and research monitoring. The second consists in Health Technology Assessments, including searching for primary evidence in the literature and generation of secondary evidence with synthesis of evidence in Rapid Reviews and Systematic Reviews, including economic analysis such as cost-effectiveness and budget impact. 

 

Main activities:

Work Stream 1 

• Interface with academic and research experts on model conceptualization, scope, and definition of clinical research. 

• Review and edit key documents such as proposals of clinical research, research protocols, cost estimations, preliminary and final presentations, draft and final reports, attendance of internal and external committee meetings and responses to stakeholders. 

• Literature review, critically appraise, and summarize prior studies and health-economic data relevant to the project.  

• Follow-up and monitoring activities related all supported clinical researches.  

• High quality research of literature and databases about scientific and economic data for structural development of decision-analytic models and/or adaptation of existing models.  

• Identification and estimation of all model parameters and data sources.   

• Model simulations and analyses, including specification and conduct of one-way, multi-way, and probabilistic sensitivity analyses.  

• Preparation and delivery of presentations and reports with synthesis of evidence and economic models, including cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis. 

• Assess to market size, procedural costs, budget impact, quality of life and economic outcomes of a specific product versus alternatives. 

• Demonstrate the clinical and economic value of the technology with relevant data, such as resource use, change in patient outcomes, quality-of-life improvement and cost reductions. 

• Interaction with Government Affairs area to integrate methods and strategies with the current legal framework applied to Anvisa, AMB, CEP-CONEP, ANS and CONITEC processes. 

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor's degree - 

Solid Knowledge in HTA – Health Technology Assessment and Health Economics analyses are required. 

Fluent English

• Excellent organizational as well as written and oral communication skills.  

 

• The highest levels of personal initiative, collaboration spirit, attention to detail, independent work and commitment. 

• Experience using tools about risk of bias and quality of evidence assessment (e.g., GRADE, RoB, ROBIS, QUADAS-2, AMSTAR, Cochrane, etc.) – very helpful  

• Experience developing health-focused economic models using decision-analysis software (e.g., TreeAge, advanced Excel) and other general programming languages useful in decision analysis (e.g., R, RevMan, Stata) – very helpful
