About the Role:
Primary owner for day to day activities for a department function or area, ensuring department objectives are met, including employee’s job assignments and coaching associates on all activities related to distribution. Orchestrates activities across work department/areas which can include the following: spending majority of time on the distribution floor, participating in cross department stand-ups, communicating within and outside department/site, guiding warehouse associates, determining and assigning daily work priorities, proactively identifying and resolving process issues, overseeing safety, monitoring training compliance, and monitoring adherence to quality objectives.  Identify, support, and lead ongoing continuous improvement initiatives that deliver year over year rates of improvement in quality, service and cost. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversees workload distribution and productivity performance of the team and assist supervisor in the coordination of daily activities, including calling overtime/shift leveling as needed.
  • Guides team members on day-to-day work assignments, overtime, and daily priorities. 
  • Supports department to meet or exceed metrics/goals while maintaining compliance with all quality systems and procedures and partnering with Quality functions as necessary.
  • Monitors and adjusts time reporting and systems (i.e. Kronos).
  • Supports, develops and facilitates department communications and initiatives, including Labor Management and business metrics/goals.
  • Works with global supply chain managers and planning groups to resolve relevant issues and work to improve business processes.
  • Acts as logistics facilitator to ensure all elements of the distribution process are coordinated in such a way that customer requirements and time constraints are met.
  • Training lead for department – Oversees training status and system reporting/adjustments (i.e. TRS/LMS); facilitates standard training and on the job training with new and existing employees, supports training improvements with training department, etc.
  • Analyzes and solves problems throughout the distribution processes, using basic problem-solving techniques, as well as utilizing complex and advanced theories and principles.
  • Acts as department Continuous Improvement lead and support/drive department initiatives/projects to meet cost and budget objectives, including performing data analytics and leading improvement projects.
  • Understands and supports the budget for designated projects and areas of responsibility.  
  • Helps oversee the department's mechanical equipment, including Material Handling Equipment, conveyors, etc.  
  • Promotes, monitors and ensures a safe work environment and adherence to all safety policies. 
  • Guides, coaches, and develops junior leaders and team members.
  • Leads daily special requests, including all expedites, batch specific pulls/picks, emergency replenishments, etc.
  • Supports all Labor Management activities, including observations, daily reporting, and communications.
  • Serves as the department Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary point of contact, supporting projects, audits, etc.  
  • Maintains the processing, packaging, and storage of all department supplies.
  • Applies Lean principles in all activities, including leading 5S and Continuous Improvement projects.

Required qualifications:

  • 3 Years with Associate in Arts degree/diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/work experience
