About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a R&D Engineer III supporting Coronary Therapies Sustaining team within the Interventional Cardiology division. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Design Change Assessments (DCA’s) for Capital Equipment
- Create drawings, BOM’s and other design outputs as needed
- Assist with updating Electrical (PCB), Mechanical (Hardware) and Software System equipment qualifications, test methods, test method validation, protocols, and reports
- Assist with IEC 60601-1 (Product Safety) and IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC) testing, protocol development, and report writing
- Assist Packaging, Labeling, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering/Quality teams to transfer proposed design changes through to Production
- Provide clear communication to stakeholders as necessary
- Leverage internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives
- Work cooperatively with Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Marketing on complex projects to ensure project success
- Assist the New Product Development (NPD) teams through execution of the design control process and “Lesson’s Learned”
- Train and/or provide work direction to Technicians, Interns, and other Engineers as necessary
- Solve engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions
- Investigate, research, and select components, tools, equipment, and best practices
- In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Bio Med, or similar Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant R&D/Quality experience with Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years with Master’s degree
- Medical device design control process and documentation experience (i.e. – Windchill)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Be a “self-starter” and willing to reach out to cross-functional team members to facilitate design changes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- IEC 60601-1 (Product Safety) and IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC) experience with Medical Devices
- Corrective (CAPA) and Non-Conformance (NCEP) experience with Medical Devices
- Experience with electro-mechanical systems and accessories
- CAD drawing or Electrical schematic, BOM management, and manufacturing/supplier transfer experience is a major plus
- Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources
