About the role:

An exciting opportunity to join the growing Research and Development team in Boston Scientific’s Interventional Heart Failure group.  In this role, you’ll manage a top talent team and provide technical solutions and support to the IHF business.  The position will focus on career development and growth for our technician team, lab management/ownership, equipment and prototyping support, and general team development and functional excellence in the R&D IHF franchise. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assists in and/or manages functional deliverables and ensures technical excellence for material, process, and product development support to R&D project teams.
  • Supports test and prototyping equipment activities within the IHF lab space.
  • Provides guidance and facilitation regarding technical strategies and approaches for execution of lab activities.
  • Provides team development and training to staff, assists employees in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.
  • Assists in and/or completes the development of budgets and monitors spending.
  • Assists in identifying and developing department function equipment, software, supplies, and tools.
  • Supports and may lead general IHF organizational initiatives.
  • Assists in and/or determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.  Works with lab customers and project leaders to understand priorities and plans resource and time allocation accordingly.
  • Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and deliverables.
  • Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
  • Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results.
  • Executes or delegates and guides non-conformance investigations and reporting.
  • Supports and/or will lead a large laboratory move consisting of core equipment and resources.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 5-8 years of work experience in industry, with a combination of individual contributor and project team leader or functional team leader with direct reports.
  • Work experience in goal-setting and in providing on-going coaching and performance feedback to direct reports
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching high performers and investing in people
  • Experience managing complex equipment development and/or initiatives

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of work experience in a medical device company
  • Work experience in a new product development laboratory environment
  • Experience managing initiatives or projects within an engineering organization.  Setting goals, creating plans, and executing to project completion
  • Has a strong vision for people development and continuous growth
