Facilities Engineer – P4 (Sr. Facilities Engineer)
Plans, designs, and supervises the construction of new, or existing, facilities in support of Company goals by utilizing available resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible while complying with time and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the planning, design, reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.
- Responsible for planning plant, office and production equipment layouts for economy of operation and maximum utilization of facilities and equipment.
- Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
- Develops criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
- Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
- Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
- Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
- Assists in development and maintenance of short-term and long-term facilities space plan.
- May be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and planning preventative maintenance.
Management Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5+ years of work experience
- Five to seven years’ experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues preferred.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
- Lift up to 50 pounds; be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders; work from heights, work in small crawl spaces.
- Scheduling of people (contractors), machines, materials, and support services to achieve maximum team efficiency in meeting boiler/HVAC utilities requirements.
- Working with local, state, and federal environmental authorities to assure proper and legal status for effluent, emissions, and fire control.
- Working with Plant, EHS, Engineering, and Maintenance personnel to facilitate environmental, safety and maintenance requests.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and project management.
- Familiar with building automation systems (BMS) including lighting controls and environmental monitoring systems. Have the ability to monitor and respond to alarms.
- Use the financial software system (SAP) to generate requisitions/purchase orders, set up new vendors.
- Manage and monitor spend against PO’s – provide weekly updates
- Assist in supervising small capital projects from scheduling to tracking spend
