Electrical Engineer II  - R&D 

Arden Hills, MN

 

Role

 

  • Develops digital and analog electronic test systems, including:  Requirements, electrical and circuit design, schematics, and FPGA coding.

  • Responsible for the analysis, design and integration of test systems and testing solutions.

  • Responsible for oversight of the fabrication and production of electronic test subsystems and complete systems.

  • Responsible for developing, applying and maintaining quality standards for electronic systems.

  • Collaborating with team of SW/FW/HW engineers to develop code and support instrumentation for verifying the functionality of pacemakers and defibrillators.

  • Responsible for debug and repair of electronic systems and PCBs, and/or oversight of technicians performing that work.

 

Your responsibilities include:

 

  • Apply your knowledge of electronic design methodologies and systems to develop test system concepts, requirements and specifications using hardware engineering best practices and/or industry standards.

  • Implement electronic instrumentation and test systems based on requirements and specifications.

  • Integrate electronic instrumentation and subsystems into larger test systems that may include both software components and medical devices.

  • Work in technical cross-functional teams to develop and support custom instrumentation and test systems. 

  • Continuously improve process and work methodologies.

  • Hands on, and/or oversight of technicians in troubleshooting and repair PCB assemblies and systems.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree of more from an accredited school in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study

  • 2+ years of work experience in Electrical Engineering with BS or 2+ months experience in electrical engineering with MS Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field of study

  • Schematic capture, and oversight of PCB and system fabrication/assembly experience

  • Knowledge and experience in low power analog design techniques

  • Strong lab skills and hands on experience with standard electrical test equipment

  • Integration of electronic and software systems experience, including problem resolution

  • C++ and/or Python programming experience

  • Experience writing documents, reports, memos, and change requests

  • Experience trouble shooting and repairing electronic circuits at the board level

  • Willingness to work onsite (4+ days per week) at our Arden Hills, MN location

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Instrumentation design and maintenance experience

  • Analog/Digital electronic experience

  • Mixed hardware/software design experience

  • Instrumentation validation experience

  • Experience with LabView and/or Matlab

  • Familiarity with FPGA design tools

  • Experience in a Regulated environment

  • Familiarity with C# creating GUI’s and test applications

  • Experience with Altium, Verilog, VHDL, and/or SolidWorks
