About the Role:

As a champion of environmental, health, and safety values at Boston Scientific, the EHS Specialist creates and maintains programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and relevant regulations. This role involves providing guidance, training, and support, while fostering engagement and contributions from EHS colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external partners to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing EHS site support for internal customers including manufacturing, process development, and R&D laboratories
  • Identifying opportunities to minimize risks and prevent workplace injuries; collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Administering the ISO45001 Health & Safety Management System including internal and external audit facilitation and risk management; identify opportunities for improvement, implement recommendations, and manage related documentation
  • Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and after-action reviews; collaborate with process owners to develop and implement corrective actions and engineering controls as needed
  • Conducting risk assessments on processes, equipment, and chemicals; identify compliance concerns, program non-conformities, and opportunities for improvement
  • Conducting EHS audits, self-assessments, and inspections to ensure workplace conditions comply with internal policies, program requirements, and applicable local, state, and national regulations
  • Partnering with regulatory agencies to conduct site inspections; providing regulatory guidance and safety recommendations for processes, equipment, and facility infrastructure design
  • Building and maintaining relationships with contracted safety services and consultants
  • Leading and supporting EHS-related committees, task forces, and cross-functional teams; serve on the site’s emergency response team(s)
  • Facilitating regulatory compliance activities such as coordinating work efforts and recordkeeping related but not limited to chemical hygiene and exposure monitoring, lab and radiation safety, hearing conservation, chemical and safety data sheet management, personal protective equipment and respiratory protection, and general employee safety.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, safety management, occupational health, or related discipline
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with safety-related programs, policies, procedures and regulations
  • Minimum 2 years of EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and/or Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) 
  • Experience working in pharmaceutical, medical device, electronics, or similarly regulated industry
  • Experience with ergonomic risk reduction, emergency response and incident 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements.
